Finding a shul that caters to your personal needs can be  harder than finding the proverbial  needle in a haystack, especially considering we are all different and want diverse things out of our  spiritual centre. That is why  shuls spring up left, right and centre, each catering to a specific market, and you can have three shuls in one road without posing too much competition to each other Pine Street Shul offers a warm and friendly atmosphere, daily minyamin and a variety of stimulating shiurim given by Rabbi Gerson and Rabbi Sofer. It boasts one of the city's leading Chazzans in Cantor Ezra Sher with our choir under the baton of choirmaster Dennis Goldman. The Pine Street Shul offers a world class youth programmes for all age groups, comprehensive barmitzvah and batmitzvah programs, highly anticipated social events - and the ˜best kiddush in town!" The hardworking members of the Pine Street Ladies Guild are well known for their preparation and presentation of delicious Shabbat brochas, and the granting of hal! and catering rights to Shelley Geffen has added further lustre.   A playschool on the premises offers the youngest attendees a fully rounded Jewish environment. Rabbi Anthony Gerson and Rebbetzin Marice Gerson have been the spiritual leaders of Pine Street since February 1995. Both South African born and schooled, they have a natural empathy with their congregants, and are quick to understand their temperament and communal needs. Their easy going and friendly personalities are instrumental in attracting many people to the shul. Their children grew up in Pine Street and now bring their families "home" from time to time to join in community yomtov dinners, the popular and unique second night seder, and other innovative events. As well as being respected communal figures, Rabbi Gerson is a well known mohel and Marice teaches at Shaarei Torah primary school. Our new addition, Rabbi Oviadia Sofer and Rebbitzen Aliza Sofer add a new dimension in running our Beit Midrash program.
